Let From the Earth take you on an incredible journey of unhurried life, and learn how to make the country lifestyle part of your way of living – even in the heart of the city - ‘from the earth’ is designed to stimulate and satisfy all the senses.

EARTH EXPO:

Every product sector will be showcased so that visitors can get an overall picture and also see the diversity available in agriculture and to explore the pleasures of the palate. It is here where the spirit and heart of the event is to be found, supported by industries such as:

Meat. Raw, dried or processed, all possible cuts and interesting combinations will be available for tasting and purchasing. Also the value added products of this industry, such as wool, mohair, leather, feathers, etc. will be showcased.

Fruit. Soft, citrus, sub tropical and stone fruit, including wine, fruit juices, dried fruit, coffee, chocolate, nuts and olives are all the decadent products to be found in this industry.

Vegetable. Organic products, fresh and processed as well as deli products will entice visitors to find out more about the vegetable industry.

Herbal. Experience the magical wonders of the diversity of medicinal, aromatic, culinary and insect repellant herbs. Herbal teas, food flavourings and skin care products are all part of the world of herbs.

Wheat. Here, millers and bakers will receive the opportunity to showcase the extent of their products. A feast of home-baked bread and pastries awaits visitors to this lane. Discover new breakfast cereals, pastas and biscuits and do not forget – beer is made from barley!

Dairy. Producers of dairy products will be ready to impress visitors with their innovative products, full of strength and vitality. Milk, and all its processed variations, such as butter, cheese, yoghurt, buttermilk, ice cream, dairy fruit juices and dairy powder, will be on exhibition.

The layout will make provision for any other agricultural industry that is also interested to take part in ‘from the earth’.

EARTH STOCK:

It will be a novelty for city dwellers to view sheep, cattle, pigs, goats, emus and poultry at arm's length. The animals will form a backdrop for daily shows where creations of leather, wool, mohair and feathers will be on the ramp. The activities, such as Youth Shows, shearing competitions and other exciting demonstrations in the Landbank Arena will have visitors glued to their seats.

EARTH REST:

The leisure area with lawns, tables and chairs and live music will create an alfresco atmosphere similar to a day in the countryside. Here visitors can enjoy something to eat and drink before tasting more products or planning what demonstration to attend next.

EARTH WORKS:

A large number of tasting workshops will take place in the Country Kitchen and Country Pantry for a public that is ever more interested in quality food and unfamiliar and exotic culinary combinations.

EARTH INFO:

In this area, information will be traded between agricultural service providers, farmers and visitors. What happens at the Agricultural Schools in the Western Cape? Find out for yourself – they will all be exhibiting at From the Earth. Also find out what Agri Western Cape’s function is in agriculture; the Department of Agriculture, The Bee Industries Association, Mohair SA, CapeWools SA and obtain information about being a small farmer or producer of slow food products.
